This Rangitoto Postcard from a great backyard shows the iconic view of Rangitoto Island, situated in the Hauraki Gulf off the coast of Auckland.

Rangitoto is the youngest of Auckland’s volcanoes, having appeared from the water 600 years ago. There are approximately 50 other volcanoes in the immediate Auckland area, and the volcanic field the city is built on is not extinct.
