Te Awamutu Map (1948)
Borough of Te Awamutu — Vintage Survey Map Print
This vintage 1948 map of Te Awamutu captures the Rose Town of New Zealand at a particular moment in its growth. It shows the town in careful detail — every section, street, and housing lot plotted within the red borough boundary, with the Mangapiko Stream threading along the northern edge and the surrounding parishes of Mangapiko and Puniu extending beyond. The dense grid of the town centre gives way to larger rural sections at the margins, a clear picture of a Waikato town still finding its edges.
The warm ochre tones and clean draughtsmanship have aged well, and the bold lettering of the title gives it a confident, unfussy graphic quality.
At home in your kitchen or living room - anywhere you want something with local character rather than generic decoration. Sits naturally alongside other heritage prints or holds its own as a standalone piece for anyone with a connection to the town.
A perfect gift for Te Awamutu locals, Waikato families with roots in the area, or anyone whose parents or grandparents grew up there. The kind of map where people immediately start looking for a street they know, or a section that was once in the family.
